Appendices - Graphical Package of Children and Young Peoples Health in Camden
What the report is
This report provides an overview of the health and wellbeing of Camden’s children and young people from maternity up to age 25.
We’ve included details about the demographics of Camden’s children and young people and have focussed on equity and intersectionality.
In each section of our report we’ve provided some context, highlighted recent progress, and described some of the actions planned by colleagues over the next months and years.
We have also included details of the services that work with us to support children and young people in the borough.
This document is not standalone. We have highlighted where this report links into various needs assessments, audits, profiles, and other relevant documents.
Findings
We’ve used our findings to put together recommendations to improve how we work with children and young people. We especially want to look at gaps in our data and intelligence on our youngest residents.
Areas of concern for children and young people in Camden that we need to explore further include:
- school absences and take-up of immunisations
- greater partnership work to improve child health equity and address the social determinants of health
- better data collection on gender inequalities and young people’s experience of violence against women and girls
- better understanding of the health of our LGBTQIA+ residents
- identifying opportunities on how we can act on climate change and sustainability in our work across health
- continuing our work to address high levels of youth vaping
How to use the report
This report can be used by Camden leaders to provide background and context for projects and commissioned activity as well as policy decisions.
It can also be used by frontline professionals, and those who work with them to provide an overview of CYP health. A practical slide has been created which highlights some key concerns for children and young people in Camden and provides tips on how residents can be supported in these areas.
