Christmas tree recycling

Christmas tree recycling

Christmas trees can be recycled at recycling points across Camden. The recycling points will be open from 2 to 11 January 2026.

View our map to find your nearest Christmas tree recycling point. Remember to remove any decorations from your tree.

Recycling points are for domestic use by Camden residents only. You must not leave unsold Christmas trees or commercial waste at any site.

Dumping your Christmas tree on the street is illegal and can make it difficult for people to get by safely. You may be fined £1000 for fly-tipping.

The City of London are not collecting Christmas trees on Hampstead Heath again this year. Trees must not be left on our streets or at the boundary of the park.

If your usual Christmas tree recycling point was:

  • East Heath Road car park, the nearest alternative sites are at Netherhall Gardens (at the end) or Highgate Enclosures (in between Lissenden Gardens and Glenhurst Avenue)
  • Jack Straw’s Castle car park, the nearest alternative sites are at Netherhall Gardens (at the end) or Fortune Green Road Open Space (at the bottom)
  • Millfield Lane (at the Men's Pond gate), the nearest alternative sites are at Highgate Enclosures (in between Lissenden Gardens and Glenhurst Avenue) or Regis Road Reuse and Recycling Centre.

There will also be no recycling point at Camden Gardens this year. Use the nearby sites at Camden Garden Centre or Talacre Gardens (inside the gate on the middle of Talacre road).

Other ways to get rid of Christmas trees

Trees can also be collected:

Many Christmas tree sellers provide a take-back service.

You can also take your tree to Regis Road Reuse and Recycling Centre.

If you have the space, you can buy a living tree in a pot that you can plant in your garden or keep for next year.

The North London Waste Authority website has more ways to save money and reduce waste at Christmas.
