Reapply for a postal vote after 3 years
Reapply for a postal vote after 3 years
A postal vote application is only valid for 3 years. At the end of this period, you must re-apply to vote by post.
Why we’re contacting you now
We plan for a scheduled election months in advance. We try to contact you ahead of this to ensure your postal vote is ready for the election date and we can include your postal vote pack in our first dispatch.
You may receive an email from Electoral Services electoral.services.camden.council@notifications.service.gov.uk encouraging you to update your application. You cannot reply to this address.
How to update your postal vote application
You can apply for a postal vote online. You’ll need to include:
- an image of your written signature
- your National Insurance number
- your date of birth to complete the application
If you prefer a paper application, contact us at electoral.services@camden.gov.uk or call us on 020 7974 3606.
Providing your National Insurance number
You’ll need to prove your identity as part of the application process. This applies to both paper and online applications.
If you're unable to supply your National Insurance number, you will need to provide documentary evidence such as a passport before we can approve your application.
If you had a postal vote before, but your new application has been rejected
Your new application may have failed if we were unable to match the information provided with the information held by the Department for Works and Pensions (DWP). In this instance, you will be asked to provide documentary evidence such as a passport. If you fail to provide this, we cannot process your application.
If you no longer want to vote by post
Just email us at electoral.services@camden.gov.uk with your name, address and date of birth. We'll cancel your postal vote so that you can vote at your polling station in the future.
In the run-up to an election, you must cancel your postal vote arrangements 12 days before polling day. After this, they cannot be cancelled or amended for that election.
If you‘ve changed your name since your original postal vote application
You can change your name on the Register of Electors on the GOV.UK website by making a new application.
Make sure you include your previous names on the application so that we can update our records. Once you’ve done this, you can refresh your postal vote at the same time.
