Stalking
Stalking
Stalking is a more intense form of harassment, marked by an obsessive focus on the victim. The stalker could be someone familiar, like an ex-partner or a former friend, or even a stranger.
Regardless of your relationship with the stalker, it is not your fault, stalking is a criminal act.
Stalking behaviours
Stalking behaviours can include:
- frequently following someone
- repeatedly showing up at their home uninvited
- monitoring their internet activity, emails, or other electronic communications
- loitering in places the person often visits
- tampering with their property
- watching or spying on them
- committing identity theft (e.g., signing up for services or making purchases in their name)
- sending unwanted gifts, letters or money
If these unwanted behaviours occur more than once, it is considered stalking.
