Our office at Crowndale Centre has now closed entirely.
Certificate production time for entries registered after 1940 can take up to 15 working days to be processed. This does not include postage time.
However, If you require a certificate for an event that took place before 1940 you will need to contact the General Office (GRO) to order it. Their telephone number is 0300 123 1837. Express service for certificates
The express service costs £38.50, including the certificate and first-class postage.
To have your certificate processed the same day, you must order it before midday Monday to Friday. You will be able to collect the certificate between 2pm to 4pm the same day, Monday to Friday. We are closed 1pm onwards on the first Thursday of each month.
If you order a certificate after midday, you will be able to collect the certificate the following day between 2pm to 4pm, Monday to Friday. We are closed 1pm onwards on the first Thursday of each month.
If you do not collect or receive your certificate
If you do not receive your certificate within 4 weeks, email crs@camden.gov.uk.
If you order a certificate for collection, it will be held for one year. The same applies if you order a certificate to be sent via post and it's returned to us.
Any certificates not collected within a year will be confidentially destroyed, and you will need to pay again.
Copies of birth, marriage and death certificates
You can obtain a copy of a certificate for a birth, marriage, civil partnership or death that was registered in Camden. We also have access to former historic districts of St Pancras, Hampstead and Holborn.

Get copies of certificates
You can order certificates online any time after the registration has been completed (please allow at least 5 working days if you have registered a birth by declaration at a different register office).

Certificate and postage fees
- Birth, Death, Marriage or Civil Partnership Certificate Fees. Certificates at time of registration & duplicates £12.50
- Certificates of births, deaths, marriages and civil partnerships Express Certificate fee (for each separate entry) £38.50. Surcharge to obtain certificates as soon as possible, normally same or next day (this does not apply for initial certificates at time of registration).
- International postage fee for duplicate certificates £9.00
- Special delivery postage for duplicate certificates £7.50
- 1st Class Postage £1.50 (if you choose this option, we cannot be held liable for lost certificates. This is not tracked postage. Please choose "special delivery postage" if you want to be able to track your certificate.)
- Keepsake birth certificate wallets £3.60
- Certificates for pre-1940 must be ordered via General Register Office (GRO – 0300 123 1837) and are not be available to order from the Registration service.
