Occupational therapy

Adult Social Care Occupational Therapy Service

Occupational therapy is about supporting people to manage essential daily activities.

Daily activities may be:

  • getting in and out of the bath or shower
  • getting around your home, and going and down stairs
  • sometimes feeling unsafe in your own home, such as the possibility of falling or forgetting to switch off taps or cookers.

If you have a carer, the Occupation Therapy service also considers the needs and abilities of your carer.

We then make recommendations, which can include some or all of the following:

  • working with you to find a different way to manage tasks you have difficulty with
  • providing minor adaptations e.g. grab rails to help get in and out of your bath
  • arranging major adaptations like stairlifts and ramps
  • advice and equipment to make things easier and safer for carers

As always, our priority is the health and safety of our residents so we will continue to have temporary services in place while we fully transition to Provide.
