Raise Camden Young People's Panel

Join us on our mission to end child poverty and make health fairer for Camden young people – paid opportunity for 16 to 25 year olds.

Growing up in poverty affects every aspect of a child’s life and their future life chances, including their health, education and social life. Children, babies and young people from Black, Asian and other ethnic backgrounds are more likely to grow up in poor health than white children. This is unfair.

Despite a proud history of tackling inequality and decades of council investment, Camden is one of the most unequal places to live in England and child poverty is increasing here.

Join the panel

We know that a happy and healthy childhood means a child is more likely to have good physical and mental health throughout their life. Camden Council is bringing together experts in child health from around the country to test new ideas and make real change to end child poverty in Camden, and improve the health of children and young people living in the most deprived circumstances in our borough.

And we need your help. We are looking for young people who live, work or study in Camden, who know what it’s like to grow up in our borough – to join a young people’s panel to share your experiences and ideas, have your voice heard and make a difference to the lives of Camden's next generations.

About the Raise Camden Young People’s Panel

The Raise Camden Young People’s Panel will meet four times a year to discuss important topics affecting young people.

Working alongside experts, politicians, decision makers and as part of a high profile taskforce, the young people’s panel will work together to come up with solutions to problems for children and young people in Camden, including child poverty and poor mental health.

Your recommendations will help the Raise Camden Taskforce to make decisions about changes to make sure that every child in Camden has a happy, healthy and hopeful life. These changes will be made by the Council and its partners and you’ll see the real-life impact of your work in your communities.

  • You’ll receive £20 an hour in vouchers for your time

  • You’ll be reimbursed for reasonable expenses, such as travel

  • You’ll meet other young people, decision makers, local leaders and experts
