What we’re researching
We’re researching how to make work-related support more helpful and accessible for people on health-related benefits. Work-related support could mean volunteering, meeting new people, learning new skills or taking small steps towards work if and when you’re ready.
We know conversations about work can feel difficult, especially when health or other personal circumstances make it harder to think about the future. We want to learn from your experiences in a 30-minute phone chat. As a thank you, you’ll receive a £20 gift voucher.
All interviews will be confidential and nothing you say will impact your benefits. We’ll make all the answers anonymous and we’ll use them to influence how DWP and other organisations support people like you.
What we’ll talk about
It'll be a relaxed and informal conversation. We know sharing personal experiences can feel difficult, so you don't have to answer any questions you don't want to.
We might talk about:
any work-related support you've had in the past - what was helpful and what could have been better
your interests and goals - such as meeting new people, exploring volunteering, gaining skills or thinking about work in the future
challenges you’ve faced - in relation to health, confidence, finances or other personal circumstances
what kind of support would feel most useful and what could make it easier for people to access the right help when they need it
How it'll work
One of our researchers – Rachel or Jun – will give you a call at time that works for you. It can be a phone call or a video call, whichever you prefer.
It’ll last about 30 minutes. We'll go at your pace and we can stop any time.
Before we call you, we'll check if there's anything we can do to make the interview more comfortable for you, such as arranging a BSL interpreter.
Everything will be confidential and only used for our research.
