What we’re researching

We're researching how to better support people on health-related benefits. This could mean getting help with everyday needs, connecting with others, accessing services, volunteering or making plans for the future. We want to learn what matters most to you.

We’d love to hear about your experiences in a 30-minute phone chat — what’s been helpful, what’s been challenging and what kind of support would make a difference for you.  As a thank you, you’ll receive a £20 gift voucher.

All interviews will be confidential and nothing you say will impact your benefits. We’ll make all the answers anonymous and we’ll use them to influence how DWP and other organisations support people like you.

What we’ll talk about

It'll be a relaxed and informal conversation. We know sharing personal experiences can feel difficult, so you don't have to answer any questions you don't want to.

We might talk about:

  • the support you've had in the past - what was helpful and what could have been better

  • the challenges you face - related to health, finances, social connections or other areas

  • what’s important to you right now – such as managing day-to-day life, meeting new people, accessing services or feeling more confident

  • your hopes for the future and what would make a positive difference for you moving forward

How it’ll work

One of our researchers – Rachel or Jun – will give you a call at time that works for you. It can be a phone call or a video call, whichever you prefer.

It’ll last about 30 minutes. We'll go at your pace and we can stop any time.

Before we call you, we'll check if there's anything we can do to make the interview more comfortable for you, such as arranging a BSL interpreter.

Everything will be confidential and only used for our research.
