Training opportunities

Camden’s Community Safety Team offer a range of free training opportunities in partnership with organisations such as Safer Business Network or The Suzy Lamplugh Trust. These can range from in person sessions to online e-learning for businesses, organisations or individuals.

Active bystander training 

An active bystander is someone who takes positive action to prevent or reduce harm when witnessing prejudice, discrimination, harassment, or identity-based violence.

This training is delivered by The Suzy Lamplugh Trust, this 30-minute online session (via Zoom) for Camden residents, workers, or students teaches participants to:

  • recognise harmful behaviours
  • intervene safely and effectively
  • challenge abusive behaviour and offer support
  • increase awareness of abuse/harassment
  • promote safer communities

Sign up for active bystander training.

WAVE

Training for customer-facing staff, especially in licensed premises, to identify and respond to vulnerability, including drink spiking, and promotes the ‘Ask for Angela’ initiative. Completion includes an accredited certificate. This is training is delivered by the Safer Business Network online or in person.

Safe Havens

Safe Havens are local businesses that provide a safe space for individuals, particularly women, who feel vulnerable or unsafe. These establishments offer assistance such as a friendly face, help contacting the police or friends, directions, or public transport information. They are easily identifiable by the Safe Haven logo displayed in their windows or doors.
