Understanding your Penalty Charge Notice (PCN)
Understanding your Penalty Charge Notice (PCN)
A PCN is a fine that you receive for not following parking or moving traffic rules. Not following these rules is known as a contravention.
This may include:
- parking illegally, for example parking on a yellow line or causing an obstruction
- overstaying in a paid-for parking bay
- not following traffic rules, for example going against a ‘no right turn’ sign or driving in a bus lane
If you’ve received a PCN you can check the details online. This includes photos of the contravention and the date and time it took place.
You can find further information on how to pay and challenge a PCN.
If you have a condition or a protected characteristic under the Equality Act 2010 that makes it hard for you to pay or challenge your Penalty Charge Notice, we may be able to help by making reasonable adjustments. To request an adjustment, please contact our Contact Camden team on 020 7974 4444.
