Bereavement support

Bereavement is the experience of losing someone important to you. It affects people in different ways, and there are services and charities that can support you. 

Helplines 

Helplines can be a quick way to get help, but you may have to wait on the line or be offered a call back: 

  • Samaritans offer 24/7 helpline support for anyone experiencing stress, despair or who is in crisis. Call them for free on 116123. Or, you can call 0330 094 5717 but you may be charged depending on your phone package 

  • The Silver Line offers 24/7 helpline support for older people. They provide information, friendship and advice. Call them for free on 0800 470 80 90 

Counselling 

A trained professional can help you talk about your emotions and your experiences. There may be a waiting list: 

  • The Brandon Centre offers counselling for young people aged 16 to 24 who live in Camden and Islington 

Specialist support 

These organisations can offer support for specific experiences and circumstances: 

  • Age UK Camden offer support to people aged 55 and over who are registered with a GP in Camden 

  • Rehab4Addiction offer support for those dealing with addiction who are experiencing bereavement
