How we work with you

Your wellbeing matters to us.  

If you have a disability, health condition or your circumstances are making it difficult to live well at home, we’re here to help.  

It may be helpful to read our vulnerability policy. This explains how we work with you to remove barriers to our services and reduce any disadvantage you may face. 

Help with your tenancy  

Tenancy advice and support 

If you need extra support or advice about your tenancy, you can contact your Neighbourhood Housing Officer

Money worries or behind on your rent (arrears) 

If you’re behind on your rent, contact the Housing Income Team as soon as you can. They will work with you to make a payment plan and support you to access benefits you may be entitled to. You can:

Repairs and home adaptations  

Enhanced repairs  

If you’re an enhanced tenant, we'll try to prioritise your repair request. You can apply if all the following apply: 

  • 65 or over 
  • in sheltered housing  
  • receiving a care package

Camden handyperson service  

The handyperson service provides free or low-cost repairs and home improvements. To qualify, residents must be 65 or over or have a disability or mental health support need.

Warmth, income, safety and health services (WISH) 

Warmth, income, safety and health services offer support to improve your health and wellbeing. You can access these services by completing a WISH Plus referral

Equipment and technology to support independence 

An occupational therapist can work with you to identify equipment or home adaptations that will help you remain independent. You can refer yourself for an occupational therapy assessment.

If you are at risk of being homeless, you should contact us as soon as possible.

If you need to move 

There are lots of reasons why you may need to consider moving from your home, including ill health, overcrowding or having more bedrooms than you need. You can find out more about: 

 Domestic abuse  

If you’re experiencing or are at risk of domestic abuse in your home, or the place where you normally live, you’re considered homeless. Contact us to discuss your housing options . You do not need to wait to flee or leave your home.  

Maintaining your independence 

If you have an ongoing health condition or complex needs, we can provide longer-term support to help you to maintain your independence at home. Find out about:  

Fire Safety  

Person Centred Fire Risk Assessment (PCFRA) 

A person-centred fire risk assessment considers your health, mobility and home environment. A fire safety plan is created that considers your individual needs to keep you safe in the event of a fire.

Get help to leave your home in an emergency  

If you have a disability or health condition, you can ask for help to leave your home in an emergency, such as a fire.  You can complete the request form for yourself or on behalf of someone else.

Estate and communal services  

Parking on an estate 

If you have a disability or health condition, you may be eligible for a Blue Badge to help you park closer to your destination. Find out how to apply for a Blue Badge.    

Parking spaces on estates are limited and you must have a permit. We prioritise applications from Blue Badge holders who live on the estate. Find out how to apply for a permit to park on an estate

Taking rubbish to the bins  

If you’re struggling to take your bins to the ground floor and are an older tenant or have support needs, talk to your Neighbourhood Housing Officer. They can arrange for the caretaker to do it for you.

Adapting content to meet your needs

You should be able to adapt our content online to meet your needs. This means being able to:
